EduCaseThe AAMD is offering a Contouring Workshop at their 2010 annual meeting. The Contouring Workshop will consist of two sessions that use EduCase™, a software tool licensed by RadOnc eLearning, LLC to provide a means for a student to compare contours they have drawn on multiple axial planes with the contours drawn by a mentor. Each of the two sessions will be proceeded by a review of CT and MRI image anatomy using anatomical drawings and diagrams.

After this introductory review, the EduCase™ session will feature an experienced mentor who will instruct the attendees on the issues surrounding contouring for cancer arising at specific sites.  One workshop session will address head and neck cancer and a following session will address cancer in the pelvis.  The attendees will then practice contouring target structures and avoidance structures on their own laptops using provided CT scans. EduCase™ includes a metric for comparing a student’s contour set with that of the mentor.  The EduCase™ program and the CT studies will be provided on a USB thumb-drive that the attendee will keep after the workshop, allowing them to engage in additional drill and practice to enhance their learning experience.
